Located just ten miles northwest of McKinney in west central Collin County, the city of Prosper is a small suburban community that is home to a little over 2,000 residents.

A sleepy rural town by many accounts, the beloved Cotton Gin Cafe, Prosper Industries, and Mayhard Egg Farm are welcoming new neighbors like the Gentle Creek Country Club, resturants, and land developers. Prosper is experiencing rapid growth of new homes priced from the $200,000 to $1,000,000. In 2007, the Prosper Independant School District proposed a $700,000,000 bond election in anticipation for dramatic growth that will accompany the extention of the Dallas North Tollway.

Well-known area residents include the former Dallas Cowboys football players Bill Bates and Deion Sanders, who both own large parcels of land in the city.

Many residents living in Prosper are professionals who commute south into Frisco, Plano, Dallas, and neighboring communities. The city has an appeal for its genuine rural suburban flavor and it's down home sensibility. Prosper is just far enough away from the big cities to provide that small town comfort, but close enough for residents to enjoy all the metroplex's amenities.
