Homes for sale in Elm Grove are a mix of modern design, classic 1940s bungalows, and Craftsman cottages. A community of only three blocks, Elm Grove real estate is very desirable for its larger lot sizes ranging from one-fifth up to over one acre. Many of the original Elm Grove homes for sale have been replaced with contemporary modern buildings using sustainable materials with clean lines and angular roofing to accommodate rainwater runoff and solar panels. There has been some preservation of the older bungalows and cottages by updating the HVAC, plumbing, and windows. In an effort to add square footage to these smaller homes on big lots, some houses have been reconfigured with raised roofing to add a second floor with a balcony to maximize the lake or skyline view. With this innovative mix in Elm Grove real estate, it has created a visually interesting neighborhood that embraced the “Keep Austin Weird” movement.

The Blackheart is located in an old Victorian house in the middle of Rainey Street.
