Homes for Sale in Shenandoah, TX

Shenandoah is a large neighborhood in the city of Cedar Park. With spacious lots, well-maintained streets, and affordable housing, Shenandoah is an attractive alternative to many of the newly developed neighborhoods spurred by the rapid growth of the North Austin area.

Discover Shenandoah Real Estate

Homes for sale in Shenandoah have been in existence since the mid-1970s. At the time Cedar Park was a newly incorporated city of fewer than 2000 people. The developers of Shenandoah were able to secure large half-acre lots to build ranch and several hybrid style homes through the 1980s. There are even a couple of modified Tudor-style homes for sale in Shenandoah. As the city grew, Shenandoah real estate became one of the more desirable areas for their solid construction and tree lined lots.

Although most of the homes date back to the 70s, many of the Shenandoah homes for sale feature updates. Some are just cosmetic changes like new composite roofing and paint, but most have undergone complete updates including replacing windows, HVAC, and plumbing with more energy efficient systems. Open concept living started in the 1970s, and its popularity has increased as families look for ways to create shared experiences. Shenandoah real estate has many homes that extend that living space into the outside with new bi-fold doors opening onto stone covered patios or large decks for outdoor entertaining. The backyards are large enough to have a basketball hoop, vegetable garden or even a pool.

Amenities Near Shenandoah, TX

Cedar Park is known for its many great parks and recreation areas. Shenandoah real estate borders on Lakeline Park, a large greenbelt converted into a recreation area. Within the community are pocket parks with sports fields, basketball courts, and playgrounds. Just five minutes away from the Shenandoah neighborhood is the Elizabeth Milburn Park, home to an Olympic pool, rock climbing wall, sports courts for volleyball and tennis, baseball fields and a BMX track.

Located in Cedar Park is the Texas Museum of Science and Technology. Interactive displays, classes, and a planetarium program provide a fun learning experience for all ages. The Bent Creek Winery is in Cedar Park and only a fifteen-minute ride from Shenandoah. Tours of the wine making process, tastings with food pairings and even cork craft parties are all available at Bent Creek.

There are many dining options in the Shenandoah including having many fast food choices. For those who like to follow the "eat local" movement, try Fresh Heim. Start with a relaxing cup of cinnamon tea and follow with one of their seasonal dishes like fresh salmon with almond and ginger dressing. A more casual locally owned spot is GuacO Taco serving fresh, healthy Mexican food such as BLT crunchy tacos and a Mexican gumbo packed with vegetables in a tasty broth.

With its proximity to both downtown Austin and access to tech giants like IBM, Apple, Flextronics, and Dell only a 20-minute drive, Shenandoah has become a desired location for families who are looking for shorter commutes but with a suburban lifestyle.
