Turtle Creek is on the #10 bus line that runs to downtown Austin in about 40 minutes. The community is about 10 minutes from the MoPac expressway.


Open to the public when school is not in session is the Odom School Park but the neighborhood also has two other large parks. Garrison Park is home to the Austin Skateboarding club and also about 3 miles of hike and bike trails. A municipal pool is available for lap and recreational swimming. There is a $3.00 daily fee but has free parking. Armadillo Park to the south of Turtle Creek has a meditation section, several trails and a butterfly park. Turtle Creek, a small tributary that runs through the community is surrounded by a small greenbelt with limited hiking trails.


Shopping is convenient to Turtle Creek with Sprouts and H-E-B on Wm Cannon and Central Market South, a gourmet grocery store just north of the community. Along the west side of Manchaca Road are numerous thrift and resale shops from clothing to furniture. DK Sushi is right on 1st with karaoke on the weekends. No shortage of places to have authentic Tex-Mex in the area. Taqueria Morales, Casa Garcias, and Jalapeno Taco Bar are a few of the local favorites. Cherry Creek Catfish is a very family friendly location with a large menu of freshwater delights. They actually have a wall where patrons have sent in photos of their own “catch of the day” to prove they weren’t just ‘fish tales.’ Turtle Creek is a peaceful community in an active South Austin neighborhood.
