Trudy’s Bowl for Kids benefiting Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Texas will be at Highland Lanes (8909 Burnet Rd, Austin) on Friday, February 28th from 3pm through Sunday, March 2nd. STEAM3 (Science Technology Engineering Art Math Cubed) is an all-age appropriate, first-of-its-kind hybrid of a conference and interactive playground featuring speakers, workshops, demonstrations and four immersive environments focused on the future of education. It will be at the JJ Pickles Research Campus (10100 Burnet Rd, Austin) Saturday and Sunday, March 1-2 at 9am. The event is designed not only for educators and those passionate about education, students and parents, but also makers, learning content creators, mobile development, instructional and 3D/virtual world designers, researchers, entrepreneurs, artists, and innovators. The 10th Annual STAPLE! Independent Media Expo will be at the Marchesa hall & Theater (6226 Midle Fiskville Rd, Austin) Saturday, March 1, 11am-6pm and Sunday, March 2, noon-6pm. This independent media expo celebrates comic, books, web comics, zines, games, arts, crafts and podcasts. Attendants can meet and learn from various individuals and exhibitors during the festival including Chip Zdarsky, New York Times best seller Francesco Francavilla, and more. The 86th Annual Zilker Kite Festival returns to Austin Sunday, March 2nd! It will be at Zilker Park (2100 Barton Springs Rd, Austin) beginning at 10am. It is the nation’s oldest kite festival and will attract over 20,000 people to Zilker Park! It is one of Austin’s most famous annual events put on by the Exchange Club of Austin. There will be kite flying, contests, food, games, and more! Attendance is free for all ages!
