Coppell Independent School District is based in Coppell, Texas and includes most of Coppell, and parts of Grapevine, Irving, and Lewisville. Coppell ISD started out as a one high school district with its mascot technology at Coppell ISDbeing the “Lions”. When the Dallas Cowboys formed, the mascot was changed to the Coppell “Cowboys” and has remained so ever since. Today Coppell ISD employs 1200 people and has fifteen campuses that serve around 10,000 students. They now have two high schools (adding a new tech high in 2008), three middle schools, and nine elementary schools.

Coppell ISD is one of the best districts in Texas, being ranked #1 in school districts over 10,000 students for Gold Performance Acknowledgements. The TEA has rated them a Recognized school, and awarded the district 82 acknowledgments for high achievement.

Coppell High School: Coppell High enrolls about 2,700 students with 592 of them being seniors. They achieved a Recognized state accountability rating from the TEA, and ranked highly in Texas in Gold Performance Acknowledgements receiving 10. Coppell High strives to develop self-reliant learners who maximize their potential in an ever-changing global society through the utilization of community resources and relevant, customized educational opportunities that foster problem solving, critical thinking and character development. Their principal Mr. Mike Jasso shares campus news and activities over Twitter and Facebook, and the school strives to maintain communication with its community. Students can participate in a large athletics program offering everything from football to hockey. Fine arts programs include band, choir, theater, and more.

New Tech High Coppell: New Tech High strives to prepare students to excel in an information-based and technologically advanced society. They are committed to leading educational reform, and they encourage students to learn through collaboration with peers, businesses, and the community. New Tech enrolls around 500 students, 106 of them being seniors. They employ 33 staff and 50% of them have their Master’s Degrees. In 2012 93% of graduates entered four-year universities and 6% entered two year schools. They were rated Exemplary by the TEA, and were voted a New Tech Network model school. They are an Apple Distinguished School and a Smart Technology School. While they don’t offer an athletics program, each student gets a laptop, and they are taught to respect their property and environment having a “leave no trace” policy (if you see trash, clean it up, if you see vandalism, clean it up). This forward-thinking school churns out the best and brightest.

Middle Schools:

Coppell Middle School East: Coppell East serves a total of 762 students, with an even distribution between grades 6-8th. Their staff totals 56, with 47 of them being teachers with around 5 years experience. They met their Adequate Yearly Progress on all indicators, and received an Exemplary state accountability rating from the TEA.

Coppell Middle School North: Coppell North serves a total of 865 students, with an even distribution between grades 6-8. They employ about 66 staff members, 57 of those being teachers with the majority having over 5 years experience. They met their AYP on all indicators and received a Recognized state accountability rating from the TEA.

Coppell Middle School West: Coppell West serves 842 students and employs 58 teachers. Most teachers have over 6 years experience, and 40% have over 10 years experience. They met their Adequate Yearly Progress on all indicators and received a Recognized state accountability rating from the TEA. They were also named a National Blue Ribbon School of Excellence in 2011.
