Grapevine-Colleyville Independent School District is based in Grapevine, TX. The district serves the town of Grapevine, and most of the city of Colleyville, as well as small portions of Euless, Hurst, and Southlake. GCISD strives to maintain their long-standing commitment to educational excellence for all children. They have 11 National Blue Ribbon Schools, and both high schools earned places on the U.S. Children at GCISDNews and Newsweek’s Best High Schools list. Four of their elementary schools were named to the 2011 National Center for Education Achievement’s Higher Performing Schools List. Each year, GCISD graduates attend some of the best universities around the country, from Harvard to Stanford and many in between.

The educators at GISD have been recognized throughout the years for their excellence, with 31 percent of teachers having an advanced degree. They employ around 1,752 people, at their 17 schools and two alternative schools. The average years of experience among teachers is 13, and 94 percent of students graduate with a diploma. The TEA has rated GCISD a Recognized school district.

Grapevine-Colleyville ISD offers competitive athletic programs for students beginning at various grade levels including football, baseball, wrestling, volleyball, basketball, track, cross-country, swimming, golf, soccer, tennis, water polo, softball and cheerleading. In addition to offering great athletics, the districts location between Dallas and Fort Worth allow residents easy access to athletic recreational offerings such as the Dallas Cowboys football stadium.

Schools in GCISD

High Schools:

Colleyville Heritage High (grades 9-12): Opening its doors in 1996, Colleyville Heritage enrolls around 2,300 students. They pride themselves on providing a community of excellence, being a National Blue Ribbon school. CHHS has been recognized several times by Newsweek magazine as one of the nation’s top high schools (based on students enrolled in Advanced Placement courses and success in meeting graduation requirements). They offer AP courses, dual enrollment courses, and work programs through their Career and Technology Education classes.

Communication is important at Colleyville Heritage, and parents have access to their children’s grades online, and every teacher at the school has a website. CHH has a competitive athletics program, with their athletics classes being double blocked (meaning instead of taking the class every other day, they take one each day). They offer sports like football, volleyball, cross country, basketball, swim team, wrestling, baseball, golf, gymnastics, and many more. Students can also choose to participate in activities like band, color guard, choir, and theater production.

Grapevine High School (grades 9-12): Grapevine High School was on Newsweek’s annual list of 1000 best high schools in America several years in a row. Newsweek recognizes the schools that do the best job of preparing average students for college. Grapevine strives to give their students the tools to succeed in post-graduation endeavors, and teach them to demonstrate service to others, responsibility and integrity. They offer AP and dual enrollment courses, and a work-study program.

GHS has a competitive athletics program offering boys and girls baseball, basketball, cheerleading, cross country, dance, football, golf, gymnastics, soccer, swimming, tennis, track, volleyball, and wrestling. Many of their athletics teams make it to the 5A playoffs each year, and teams such as cross country and volleyball have become district champions.

Middle Schools:

Colleyville Middle School (grades 6-8): Serving 703 students, Colleyville MS strives to maintain a diverse and rewarding atmosphere for its students.

Cross Timbers Middle School (grades 6-8): Serving 829 students, Cross Timbers MS’s motto is “Dream it… believe it… achieve it.”

Grapevine Middle School (grades 6-8): Serving 785 students, Grapevine middle school maintains a diverse environment, and focuses on “Keeping the Main Thing the Main Thing.”

Heritage Middle School (grades 6-8): Serving 861 students, Heritage middle school is committed to excel as an educational environment by demonstrating exemplary levels of student achievement.
