Lewisville Independent School District, based in Lewisville, TX, also covers parts of Flower Mound, Highland Village, Copper Canyon, Double Oak, Plano, Carrolton, Frisco, Hebron, Coppell, Grapevine, and Argyle. LISD is growing very quickly due to the growth of the entire Dallas-Fort Worth area, and is now the 94th largest school district in the United States. Despite its rapid growth, LISD has maintained it’s academic excellence, being rated Recognized by the TEA. 38 of LISD’s schools received an Exemplary rating, and 20 schools received recognized. LISD also has six National Blue Ribbon Schools of Excellence, which is the highest designation a school can earn by the U.S. Department of Education.
Serving more than 50,000 students in 60 schools, and averages growth of between 1,200 and 2,000 students annually. Eight years from now LISD is projected to sever around 60,000 students. LISD’s vision is that all of their students enjoy thriving, productive lives in a future they create.

Flower Mound High School (grades 9-12) : Resting on 52 acres in Flower Mound, TX, FMHS was the second high school built in Flower Mound. It’s been called one of the top ten “best public high schools” in the Dallas area, and received Exemplary ratings from the TEA every year. In the past four years FMHS has received Gold Performance Acknowledgments from the TEA for it’s Attendance, College Admissions, and Recommended High School Program. Being a 5A school, they compete as part of the UIL in District 8-5A in sports like football, soccer, basketball, baseball, cross country, golf, softball, tennis, swimming, track, volleyball, bowling, and wrestling. Their Cross Country team is arguably the most successful program at the school, with both boys and girls teams placing top 10 in the state in 2009 and even better results in 2010. In 2011, the girls placed 3rd in state, and the boys placed 2nd in state.
Hebron High School (grades 9-12): Located in Carrollton, TX, Hebron High is located next to the border of Carrollton and Plano. The school opened in 1999, and is one of the top academic schools in its area. Given a Recognized rating by the TEA, HHS is committed to giving its students the best education available. Hebron High is extremely committed to their Advanced Placement program, exporting many AP Scholars every year. Their athletics program is one of the best in the state. Although they just graduated to 5A, when they were 4A in 2005 they took home the state championship. Students have the opportunity to participate in sports such as Volleyball, Basketball, Track and Cross Country, Baseball and Softball, and many others. Extracurricular offered include Anime Club, Math Club, German Club, Choir, Debate, Band, Art Club, Book Club, and Cheerleading.
Lewisville High School (grades 9-12): Lewisville High was the first high school in the District, opening in 1897. LHS serves more than 2,500 students, making it the largest school in the district. The school is split into two campuses, “North Campus” which served the ninth graders, and “Main Campus” which serves the tenth and twelfth graders. LHS has a very competitive athletics program, with a football team that’s won two state championships. Students can participate in other sports as well, such as track, volleyball, softball, baseball, swimming, and cross-country. Students can choose from non-athletic extracurricular like band, choir, and art.
Marcus High School (grades 9-12): Marcus High was the second high school in the LISD, opening in 1981. It serves students who live in Flower Mound, Highland Village, Double Oak, Lewisville, and Copper Canyon. MHS has been named a National Blue Ribbon School, and received a rating of Recognized by the TEA. Their athletics program has a history of excellence, with several different sports taking home state championships throughout their existence. The MHS football team, basketball team, soccer teams, and cross country teams have all won many awards in their respective areas. MHS also has a renowned marching band, placing first at the UIL State Marching Contest in 06’, 08’, 10’, and 12’. Students can also choose to participate in many other clubs offered on campus.
The Colony High School (grades 9-12): Located in The Colony, Texas, The Colony High opened in 1986 as part of Lewisville ISD. The school offers many AP courses that give students the opportunity to qualify for college credit. They also offer a program called AVID (Advanced Via Individual Determination) which is a class for students to want to get into college. The Colony’s athletics team is becoming one of the premier high schools in the district, accompanied by the renowned 350-piece TCHS Marching Band. Athletes enjoy a college level weight room dubbed the “Powerhouse” which is furnished with a black-and-gold weight set and steel bars. Their basketball team has won numerous awards, as has their boys/girls soccer program (the most successful sport in recent years).
