Homes for sale in Plano ISD, TX

The Plano Independent School District is a public school district in southeastern Collin County, Texas, and is headquartered in Plano. The district serves over 55,000 students including the entire city of Plano, as well as northern portions of Dallas and Richardson among other Dallas suburbs (Allen, Carrollton, Garland, Lucas, Murphy, Parker, and Wylie). Plano ISD was rated “recognized” by the TEA.

Plano’s educational structure is different from many school districts. Their 44 elementary schools teach kinder through fifth grade, their kids at Plano ISD13 middle schools serve sixth through eighth grades, and their high schools serve ninth and tenth graders. Once students have completed tenth grade they go on to one of three senior high schools for eleventh and twelfth grades.

Nearly 42 percent of PISD’s 3,889 teachers have master’s degrees, and they have an average of 11 years teaching experience. The districts average student/teacher ratio is 19/1. Every one of PISD’s senior high schools have been listed in the top 250 of Newsweek’s list of top 1000 high schools in America, and the district is said to administer more Advanced Placement tests than any other school district in the Western United States.
