Uptown is a pedestrian friendly neighborhood in Dallas, Texas. Home to multi-use development condos aimed mainly at young professionals, Uptown continues to be one of the most popular neighborhoods for high-rise, townhome, and apartment living. Once a part of Oak Lawn, Uptown was the name given to the area by developers who reinvented the neighborhood in the 2000’s. While singles in their 20’s populate much of the social scene on McKinney Avenue, residents in Uptown are mostly professionals in their 30’s. With a population of around 20,700 as of 2017, the area has been growing rapidly and continues to do so. With a 90% white collar worker population and a median household income of $88k, the demographic is decidedly ‘young,' and the vibe is trendy.

Real estate in Uptown varies greatly, with dwellings ranging from the mid 100's up into the multi-millions. The median home price in Uptown is in the mid 600's, but price will vary depending on the size of home, type of dwelling, and area of Uptown you're looking in. 

There are several neighborhoods within Uptown that are very popular, one of which is West Village. Located at McKinney and Lemmon Avenue, this is one of the more hip and trendy places to be. Home to more than thirty shops, over twenty restaurants and bars, and even a movie theater, West Village has something for everyone. Real estate in West Village consists mainly urban apartments and lofts. 

Another great neighborhood is State Thomas, which mainly consists of Victorian-style homes with mature charm. Its tree-lined streets make the area feel a bit less like a concrete jungle, yet its proximity to downtown makes it one of the most sought after neighborhoods in Uptown. Homes for sale in State Thomas are pricier than the other areas, but what the benefits speak for themselves. There is also the popular area of Routh South, located just south of Routh Street which is home to adorable shops and businesses out of converted homes. The area is lined with canopies of tree-lined streets and various styles of architecture. This is a great place to hang out if you want to visit quaint stores, coffee shops, and restaurants.

A ritzier part of Uptown, for those looking for the best of the best, is the Pearl in Uptown. Real estate in The Pearl features stunning views and fine dining nearby. This area is at the southern tip of Uptown and boasts high rises with world-class modern architecture. With so many luxurious amenities nearby, condos in this area are probably the priciest in Uptown, but those looking for luxury real estate won’t be disappointed!

McKinney Avenue is one of the more popular areas in Uptown, with a work-play attitude and a whole lot of things to do. Running through the entirety of Uptown, it’s close to everything! Nearby Lemmon Avenue is another area that people love to spend time, with local eateries Bread Winners, So & So’s, and Hopdoddy’s nearby. Very walkable and eclectic, the residential living in these areas is more reasonably priced and still highly sought after.
