Now that you're familiar with the basics, you'll need to narrow down your specific location requirements. You'll need to ask yourself questions such as:

What are your favorite activities? The way you like to spend your time will make a difference in where you'll want to live. Do you live an active lifestyle? You might want to live in central Austin near the town lake hiking/biking trails and water sports rentals. You could also find a property that backs up to the greenbelt for easy access to hiking trails and natural water sources! If you prefer activities like horseback riding and gardening, then a more rural setting might be for you. Properties on large plots of land can be found in the Bastrop and Dripping Springs areas. Are you a social butterfly who loves nightlife and fabulous restaurants? A stylish loft downtown might be best for you. However you enjoy spending your time, Austin has the right area for you!

Do you have children? You'll want to learn as much as possible about Austin school districts! Austin is home to some of the best schools in the state, with Eanes ISD and Round Rock ISD both receiving numerous state and national awards. A large part of Austin's children attend Austin ISD, which is the fifth largest school district in Texas with a total of 124 schools serving 86,000 students. Austin also offers a wide variety of private and specialty schools in all areas of the city.
Moving here because of a job? If living close to work is important to you, you may want to choose a neighborhood near the location of your new job. Many technology companies such as Dell, HP, Google and National Instruments have locations in North Austin and Round Rock. If you're working downtown, living in Westlake or Central Austin will make for a quick commute.

Once you've decided on a location, you'll want to narrow your search even further, to specific housing requirements. Some questions you'll need to ask are:

What size of home do you want? If you're single or a working couple with no children, then a condo or loft downtown might suit you nicely. There are many luxury high-rises and stylish lofts in Downtown Austin as well as condos and garden homes in the hip and trendy area just east of I-35 downtown. If you have a large family or plan to in the coming years, then a larger home in South Austin, Cedar Park, or Round Rock might be a perfect, and more affordable option. If you want to purchase some land, then a property in Kyle, Bastrop or Dripping Springs might be right up your alley.
What are your budget restrictions? There is an area of Austin for every budget. If you're looking for a luxury home, then neighborhoods in places such as Westlake, Lake Travis, Lakeway and Spicewood have many luxury homes available. If you're looking for a more affordable home, then South Austin and East Austin might be a better place to search. Generally, the closer to downtown you get, the more expensive homes in Central Austin will be, so if you're trying to maintain a more affordable price, you'll want to keep that in mind.
Do you want a newer home? There are many master planned communities sprouting up all over Austin. Places like the Circle C Ranch in Southwest Austin, many communities in the Onion Creek area, as well as some communities in Northeast Austin offer newer homes for sale as well as brand new construction.
