Homes for sale in Princeton, TX

Just seven miles east of McKinney in east central Collin County sits the small rural suburban town of Princeton. A short five miles to the east is Lake Lavon, a popular boating and fishing spot in the metroplex. During World War II Princeton was one of 120 Texas towns to house a POW camp for captured German soldiers. The city employed the prisoners to make community improvements and under a special bill, the POW's were contracted to work on the city park located across from the city hall. The park was constructed in memory of the men who served in the armed forces during World War II and today the camp has been turned into a history museum. Recently, members of the Princeton Area Chamber of Commerce and the Princeton Lions Club have teamed up to hold the annual Princeton Spring Onion Festival. Beginning in 2005 the festival takes place each April and has various events including an onion cook-off, a car show, a community BBQ dinner, arts and crafts and other community oriented festivities. Princeton is a down home, family friendly suburban community. The city of Princeton is served by the Princeton Independent School District.
