The city of Sachse (pronounced "Saxie") is quietly located just three miles northeast of Garland and seventeen miles northeast of Dallas in both far northeastern Dallas County and southern Collin County.Home to the 18-hole Woodbridge Golf Course and the Northern Texas Chapter of the Professional Golfers Association, Sachse, which is now home to over 16,000 residents, can almost be described as a suburb OF a suburb, as it rests comfortably on the outskirts of the much larger city of Garland which itself rests on the outskirts of the larger Dallas.The city of Sachse was founded in 1845 by Prussian immigrant William Sachse, who purchased 640 acres of land from Collin County at the time and erected the first cotton mills and gins in the county. Sachse is currently home to a significant historical revivalist movement to restore several Victorian era buildings as well as establish a history museum within the city limits.Students living in Sachse attend schools in the Garland Independent School District.
