Niche released the 2016 Best School Districts in America and Austin’s very own Eanes Independent School District came in 1st in Texas and 2nd in the country! The statistical and review website, Niche offers unique insight on every neighborhood and city in the US, helping people scout out the best places to live and raise a family.

The overall grade for each school district is based on a number of factors including the quality of academics, teachers,parent surveys, health, safety, extra curricular activities, sports, resources and facilities grade. Niche’s database consisted of 10,563 school districts receiving a grade, and 10,488 of those also received a final numerical ranking. Aside from Eanes, Highland Park ISD in the Dallas metro area, was the only other district in Texas to rank within the top 10, coming in at #6 in the country.

Eanes ISD is central in Austin, with 11 schools and a total of 8,005 students attending grades PK, & K- 12. According to the statistics, Eanes has a graduation rate of 97%, compared to the national average of 82%, and a less than 0.5% drop out rate. The student–teacher ratio is 14:1, and 96% of students in the district are considered proficient in reading and math subjects.
